Systems Engineer Quick Facts:

About the Role

As a Systems Engineer at G2 Ops, you will likely focus on developing and integrating submarine communication systems and/or establishing standards, governance, and enterprise-wide system engineering processes. Both roles require strong systems engineering expertise, but each demands a distinct skill set and technical focus.

Systems Development & Integration

Our customer supports submarine communications by developing, testing, and integrating advanced systems. If you join this team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and integrating communication systems for submarine platforms.
  • Conducting system verification & validation to ensure performance in undersea environments.
  • Managing system lifecycle requirements, including software and hardware integration.
  • Testing and evaluating new technologies.
  • Developing system models and performing trade studies to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to design and analyze system architectures.

Enterprise Standards & Process Management

Another customer oversees enterprise-wide systems engineering standards, technical governance, and process development for NAVWAR programs. In this role, you will:

  • Define and implement engineering standards that guide multiple NAVWAR programs.
  • Develop processes for system requirements, design, and verification across enterprise-wide programs.
  • Support large-scale system architecture development and sustainment for NAVWAR systems.
  • Coordinate with program managers and stakeholders to maintain system interoperability across the fleet.
  • Develop and refine technical documentation, processes, and best practices for NAVWAR system engineering teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

System Development & Integration:

  • Experience with submarine or military communications systems (e.g., SATCOM, RF systems).
  • Knowledge of systems integration and testing for mission-critical platforms.
  • Strong understanding of system verification & validation processes.
  • Experience developing system models and conducting performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or similar modeling environments.

Standards, Governance & Enterprise IT:

  • Experience with enterprise-wide systems engineering standards and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of large-scale system architecture development and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in developing engineering processes, technical documentation, and requirement frameworks.
  • Understanding of system modeling and performance analysis for naval systems.
  • Familiarity with NAVWAR program management and system engineering governance.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for systems thinkers, problem solvers, and collaborative engineers who are passionate about making an impact in defense technology. Our ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably within the defense or military sector
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, design, integration, and testing.
  • Experience with Naval Warfare systems, including familiarity with NAVWAR programs or similar DoD systems.
  • Proficiency in system modeling, simulation, and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of Navy and DoD technical standards, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance. TS/SCI desired.

Bonus points if you have experience with the NAVWAR 5.0 Cheng Office or similar NAVWAR components and knowledge of military communication systems, networks, and information assurance standards. And even more if you have experience with Agile software development processes and tools and familiarity with Navy program management and acquisition processes.
