Where you make an impact: For this opportunity, we are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Software Engineer to support development of custom tooling and automation that integrates with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments. This role will focus on developing and maintaining Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) plugins, backend services, and LLM-enabled workflows that support system modeling, verification traceability, and certification planning activities for complex defense systems.
The ideal candidate is a strong Java developer with experience building integration tools, parsing structured and unstructured data, and translating system-level engineering workflows into robust, maintainable software solutions. This role works closely with Systems Engineers to implement automation that enhances model usability, reporting, and change-impact analysis.
What does this mean to you? In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Cameo Systems Modeler (CSM) Plugin Development
- Designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based plugins for Cameo Systems Modeler to support engineering workflows and traceability automation.
- Implementing backend services and integrations that extract, transform, and structure model data for reporting and analysis.
- Developing and maintaining data parsers that ingest structured and semi-structured inputs (e.g., Excel, CSV, JSON) and map them into well-defined objects or databases.
- Translating system-level requirements, architecture constructs, and traceability needs into scalable and maintainable software capabilities.
- Troubleshooting and resolving data integration issues, including schema mismatches, synchronization errors, and data quality inconsistencies between tools.
- Refactoring and enhancing existing applications to improve performance, maintainability, and usability while preserving required functionality.
- Supporting configuration management and version control practices to ensure reliable deployment and maintainability of plugins and integration tools.
LLM & Advanced Data Integration Development
- Implementing integrations with Large Language Model (LLM) services (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or similar) within backend services and applications.
- Developing workflows that ingest and process unstructured documents (e.g., PDFs), including text extraction, chunking, embedding generation, and structured output mapping.
- Designing and implementing API-based integrations to ingest, normalize, and manage both structured and unstructured data sources.
- Supporting Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, including integration with vector databases for document-based querying and feature mapping.
- Ensuring traceability and transparency in LLM-assisted outputs to support engineering review and validation.
